On
August 9th 1998 at 4:12 am EDT., the Dungeon Masters Guild message board-based
club began with the first post from it's original founder Felsefeci.
He could hardly have known that in such a short time (although you can
see his enthusiasm clearly in his posting) that this would become a
gathering of literally hundreds of dungeon masters from the United States
and around the world, all
sharing their thoughts and experiences. Now scarcely three years later
the club has grown to more than 800 members and incredibly has generated
over 7500 posts.
Many of us spoke
of collecting this truly original wealth of opinions, ideas and advise
for DM's but it wasn't until Krovar spent countless hours in a "cut
and paste" operation second in magnitude only to the famous D-day
invasion, that this archive was assembled. Due to the size of these
pages (around 500Kb each) they may
take 2 or 3 minutes to load on a 56k modem. (god
bless you if you are still sporting a 28k!) They
have been left large for a good reason.
Due to the overwhelming
volume of text involved, I decided that these posts would be left in
500 message lots. We have also included a "Find" word feature
at the top of each 500 post page. The idea is to allow you to seek and
find just the information you need from this huge database. A search
for the words, "Giant, "Spell", "Alignment",
etc., will quickly take you to first instance of the word. You can search
for the next occurrence and so on. With Internet Explorer (6.0 tested)
this "Find" feature requires you to scroll back up to click
the button again. With Netscape Navigator (4.78 tested) you can simply
hit the "Enter" key to jump immediately to the next instance.
(I welcome suggestions regarding a better "search" function,
like one that follows you down the page).
