The Dungeon Masters Guild
Meet the Staff

The Dungeon Masters Guild
Web Site and Staff

In February of 2001, I received an invitation
from a fellow AD&D'er to join the "Dungeon Masters Guild" club on Yahoo. I was skeptical (as always) but after viewing a few dozen posts, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of ideas and depth of deliberation I saw.
I joined up and over time I observed how the many great ideas, opinions and answers to all kinds of role-playing and AD&D issues were flashing by, soon to fade into obscurity.
New members would routinely ask question which had been detailed comprehensively within previous posts and often they were instructed
by well wishing members to review them. This was a task indeed since the club had run into the thousands of posts.
Feeling I had found the group of role-playing intellectuals I had hoped to when first venturing into the internet gaming milieu, I began a series of communications directly with those I considered to be key participants or potential staff members and with the club through posts. Obtaining the support of the membership and it's founders, the staff was assembled and together we determined the structure and purpose of each category.
Now we stand
not at the completion of our
task but at it's birth and infancy.

The staff of "The Dungeon Masters Guild web site" and I, along with the club membership in general present these pages.
There are still many empty sections to fill and
over the years to come
I invite all creative dungeon masters
to help fill them.

I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to a military family. I spent most of my childhood in Germany, Missouri, Texas, and Colorado. I have attended college at Newman University in Wichita, KS before they kicked me out and I got married to my wife of 1 year, Beth. I now attend the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where I have lived on and off for 6 years. I am in my third year of college and have no plans afterwards.

I started playing 2nd edition D&D in 7th grade when a bunch of us taught ourselves to play. Since I was the most articulate I was elected DM, and have been a player only a handful of times since then. I have run three different campaign worlds, two of my own making.

I am on my third gaming group, having had my original group in Missouri and a second group in Texas disband after I moved. My gaming group has been together since October 2000 and has grown from three players to seven. The group consists of Rob and Mark, two bartenders from the gambling town of Cripple Creek, Chris, a network administrator/analyst for USA.net, Mike, a software engineer, and his Japanese wife, Naomi, my little brother Trevor, and my wife Beth, who is a Loan Analyst/Administrator for a local bank. We play once a week on Friday evenings.

Danduin
Hall of Adventure Concepts

Well met I am Danduin, or as some people insist on calling me James. I have been involved in
all sorts of RPGs, mostly as the game master. It all started with English Class, Sixth Grade. One day I noticed a couple people
playing some strange game during a free reading period. Within a day or two I had a copy of that game for my very own. It came in a blue box. Inside were two small books and five very strange dice (plus one not so strange die) and a crayon. A local library had graciously made a room available on Sunday afternoons for several of us to meet. At this time I was a player.

It was here that I was introduced to several DMs some very
good and others, well, they were at the other end of the spectrum.

Once AD&D became available I took over the DM spot with a group of friends
and I have not looked back since. In addition to D&D in most of it's incarnations (I have yet to give in to 3rd Ed.)

I have played, and moderated a great variety of games including Rifts™, Gamma World™,Vampire™, RuneQuest™, Toon™, Gurps™, MERP™, Boot Hill™, and Shadowrun™.

Currently the group I have been running has been disbanded since I moved to Cincinnati from Connecticut. I have been working on a large Ravenloft™ campaign which I hope to test in the near future.

Danduin is the character I have been playing (on and off) since 1990. He is a thief (and proud of it too!) who can not seem to live down one small
incident involving halflings . . . .

Harlequin1996
Hall of Spellcrafters

For those of you who do not know me, I’d like to tell you a little something about myself. I have been playing role-playing games since 1986, when I started playing Dungeons and Dragons™.

I learned to play using the red box set and eventually moved on to the blue, green, black, and finally gold. I also began playing Star Frontiers around this time. Over the years I have been exposed to many games and was a game master to most. I have played D&D, AD&D (all three editions), MERP™, Star Frontiers™, Star Wars™, Torg™, Paranoia™, Toon™, Shadowrun™, Cyberpunk™, Bughunters™, Once and Future King™, Chill™, and many more, so you can see that I have a lot of experience with RPG’s in general. My favorite so far has been AD&D™, 2nd edition.

I have run a major campaign (one that spanned almost 6 years) and many adventures using 2nd edition. I am in the process (like many others I imagine) of learning and adjusting to the 3rd edition, but I think that I’m going to like it.

Sir Bluetooth
"Module/Campaign Reviews"

Hello, my name is Travis Fuller. I was born in 1979, so I have been alive less time than many of you have been playing the game. When I was 8 or 9 I was introduced to the basic set of D&D by my father.

Having no one else to play with at the time, most nine year olds didn't seem to understand the idea of a game that didn't involve either physical activity or a TV screen I played mainly with my brother. We went through basically every phase of the game (D&D, AD&D, then 2nd edition), passing into and out of other groups of players, until he went to college.

Then I gathered my own group of players, who are unfortunately too busy to play as often as we would like, with college for 3 of us, and full time jobs for the others.

I have been lucky enough to be allowed to write
reviews of adventures/modules for this website, so I am asking for assistance from the readers. If you
have an adventure, either of your own design or one you found on a Website, please e-mail it or its
location to me at girltooth@compaq.net. If you have questions or comments about my reviews, go ahead and send them to that address as well.

I first started playing AD&D in the early 80's. I heard about the game and thought it sounded dumb. A friend convinced me to come along and give it a try. Since it was a run DM'ed by my supervisor from work, I decided to go ahead and see just how dumb it really was. As you may already have guessed, I changed my mind. "Cast a spell?' I said. How in the world do you simulate that?

Well I found out just how that was done and that I was both entertained and successful with my first set of characters (they still inhabit my own campaign world as colorful NPC's who wander in an out of the story).

Within a month I was immersed and well versed in the various books, articles and other AD&D materials available at the time and began a campaign of my own, loosely based on the Tolkienesque style popular at the time. Within 6 months I had convinced a group of 4 DM's and two highly experienced players to form a "Super-Group" of players under my novice leadership.

That run continued with a quorum of the same players for 11 years and forms the foundation of my entire campaign. Now 18 years since it's first gathering, the campaign lives on in the form of a "second generation" and includes players of a variety of ages ranging from 20-41. Two of the original group are still playing (the other four gave up the game after a mere 12-16 years... go figure!).

The opportunity to correspond and collaborate with so many other DM's has really re-fired my enthusiasm and given me a newfound excitement fueled by the new perspectives provided by the many talented and knowledgeable members of the guild. I am proud to be associated with this group.

Started playing D&D when I was 12 ('78) and as an Air Force brat I got the honor of playing with many different people all over the U.S., as we moved every 3-4 years. After my own stint in the Air Force (stationed in Grand Forks ND) I moved to the State College area (Penn State U). Here I have been, playing D&D with college students...a new group each year. I have had many different jobs as I get bored with work easily. Everything from Airport Limo Service to Manager of a Strip Club. I consider that my two most basic talents are, Art and DMing great campaign adventures.

I joined the Dungeon Master's Guild primarily due to the name, but soon was spending way to much time enjoying the lively debates and info exchanges. Felsefeci made me a Founder shortly after joining and since then I have put even more effort into making it the best Yahoo club dealing with information on and about D&D."

I have been playing D&D and AD&D since 1979, with several gaming groups, the last being the largest and most long lived. My current group has been playing on a once-a-week basis for approximately 11, almost twelve years. I am interested in science fiction, fantasy, and role-playing of all kinds. I
have run campaigns in D&D, AD&D, Star Frontiers, Toon, and my own home-brew Sci-Fi role-playing system. I find playing as enjoyable as Dm'ing and because of the size and quality of my role-playing group, get to do both. I am also a member of the RPGA.

On a more personal note, I was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and have lived there my entire life. I get to work for a technology magazine from the comfort of my own home. Living with me, there is my wife and two cats, Chelsea, and Tilly.

I was first introduced to D&D in 1978 with the Red Box set at a
wilderness camp. We didn't even have dice, just the "chits". Once I
returned home, I quickly found a group wanting to play. We advanced through
the Expert and Masters editions, into the Advanced rules (1e). At that
point, we all went our separate ways to different colleges.
By the time I finally settled into my current career path, I had a
son at about the right age to begin playing. I broke out the books, blew
the dust off and began to brush up on the rules. As I began to search the
web for new ideas, I learned that I had missed the 2nd edition entirely!
Therefore, I have started a new group in a new world in a new edition.
I joined the Dungeon Master's Guild to provide assistance in
creating something in which I believe. Dungeons and Dragons has opened up
new ideas and made new friends for me. Hopefully through my own campaign
and this web site, I can help to pass that on to others.
